Unlocking The Truth
A short film about me, “Obey The Artist“, by Ondi Timoner, two time Sundance winner for her documentaries “Dig!” and “We Live In Public”, just premiered at SXSW. I think Ondi did an amazing job on the 15 minute piece on me, which is part of her A TOTAL DISRUPTION project. As a perk of going to the premier, I was able to see some other fun films that were part of the program. There was a fantastic film about artist Kehinde Wiley, an igneous film called Best Sound about making music from the sound of a guy getting drunk, throwing up, and washing the shirt he wipes up his puke with. There was a great piece about the record label DFA, who have put out records by The Rapture and LCD Soundsystem. My favorite doc, because of its subjects, was about a heavy metal band called Unlocking The Truth, comprised of 12 year old black kids from Brooklyn. These kids rock and have such a passion for what they are doing. They are multi-disciplinary shredders because they skateboard too. I think I’m gonna watch them open for Motorhead the 2nd week of April. Check them out!
