Sound Strike against Arizona

Zack de la Rocha has gathered a group of courageous artists to boycott against Arizona and its racial profiling law SB1070. The law gives authorities the right to target and single out anyone they “reasonably suspect” may be undocumented. Please join the fight and take a stand against this odious law!

Artists can join the boycott by visiting http://www.thesoundstrike.net/

Texas Textbook Massacre

Ultraconservatives in Texas have approved radical changes to state educational curriculum. In a shameless attempt to infiltrate their agenda in the classroom they have decided to eliminate crucial events and people from our country’s history.

Wall Street’s War

Most people are aware of the stranglehold big business has over our government. In my opinion, the problem can’t be fixed without campaign finance reform. Many of the laws that are made to protect big business, or are NOT made to protect average Americans are negotiated in the background and then justified to the public with dramatic spin. Matt Taibbi has a great article in this month’s Rolling Stone with Russell Brand on the cover, illuminating why finance reform will not be as potent as it should be to protect average Americans. The insidious manipulation by big business and it’s lobbyists must be countered for government to represent the interests of those below the top of the pyramid. There is a great organization called Fix Congress First whose goal it is to counter these problems. The web site is http://www.fixcongressfirst.org/.

Thanks for caring,

Russell Brand Pop Up Shop

Russell Brand is someone with the rare gift to entertain and provoke thought seamlessly as he jokes and waxes philosophical. His self-deprecating, humorous, exploration of insecurity, selfishness, the desire for connection and validation, sexuality, etc.. illuminate the full spectrum of the human condition. I love that Russell is provocative sociologically, but not judgmental, because he is often his own test subject. He is FUNNY AS HELL but the thing that sets Russell apart is his honesty and humanity. After being a fan of Russell’s comedy for a couple years I stalked him at a charity event to clumsily explain why I liked his work. We stayed in touch and recently have collaborated on a project. I made some graphics and will be donating some OBEY clothing to the BUY LOVE HERE shop. Russell will be there interacting with people, and if you’ve never witnessed Russell’s unscripted wit you will have one of the following reactions, or a combination: awe, jealousy, irritation, thought provocation, literary reference anxiety, LAUGHTER. Plus you might end up being filmed and get your 15 seconds(it has been shortened for the new attention span) of fame. Russell is making a documentary on consumerism and happiness. Read more below.

RAISING ARIZONA

The continual persecution and exploitation of immigrants continues to grow in the United States of America. Anti-immigrant laws like Arizona’s SB1070 and national initiatives like Secure Communities and the 287(g) program have set this country back 60 years to a civil rights crisis.  Check out this song and video of Arizona Rappers that are protesting the immigration bill.
