MAY DAY NYC… Be there, Done that
We just returned from our two week long adventure in the Big Apple… and in between murals, protest marches, and bomb scares we had a little opening reception for Shepard’s MAY DAY exhibition. We will let some of the pics speak for themselves. Check it. Congratulations Shepard, Nic, and Z Bomit – Job Well Done!

The NYC Print Release time has changed. The special release will now take place at 1pm, Saturday, May 1st, at Deitch Projects, 18 Wooster Street. Prints will be sold for CASH ONLY and in person. Limit 1 print per design per person. See you there!
The MAY DAY show will be the first opportunity to pick up these new screen prints based on paintings I did for the show. There will be a very limited release of each of the Iggy Pop and Debbie Harry prints signed by them at the show… extra special. The prints will be only sold in person and night of the opening. A future release of the prints will be available on OBEY. There will also be small quantities of many of the prints that already sold out over the past year. Don’t worry the prices will be reasonable.

All Work No Play
Here are some flicks of our recent doings while on the East Coast. We ran into some celebrities in Manhattan, did a piece in the Bronx with COPE 2 (look out for a future collabo), and took a day trip to Philly… Call it a week.

Immigration Reform 2010!
The continual persecution and exploitation of immigrants continues to grow in the United States of America. Anti-immigrant laws like Arizona’s SB1070 and national initiatives like Secure Communities and the 287(g) program have set this country back 60 years to a civil rights crisis.
Hate crimes and racial hate groups are on the rise targeting latinos and immigrants, blaming these communities for the ales of society. On May 1st 2010 the voices of this community will be heard once again throughout this country denouncing the anti-immigrant sentiments. The purpose of these images and prints are to gain awareness and action to help change and improve immigration policy and perceptions. All the proceeds from these prints will go towards community based projects. Immigration Reform prints are still available on OBEYGIANT.com. Click here to purchase t shirts, posters, and stickers.

GEF x Houston Bowery Finale
My friend Glen E. Friedman(the photographer responsible for some of the best ever photos of the seminal stages of skateboarding, hardcore, and hip hop) stopped by the mural today. He put together a great video piece of some video and stills he shot at the wall. Check out his blog at idealistpropaganda.blogspot.com. Also peep his site at burningflags.com

Flag HPM for Charity buzz
As a proponent of humanitarianism, Shepard was pleased to contribute his artwork to the Robert F. Kennedy Center for Justice and Human Rights’ spring auction. Shepard has donated a hand-painted multiple (HPM) version of the American flag image that he created for his upcoming Deitch Projects exhibition May Day. To bid on the piece, valued at $5,000, visit Charity Buzz before the auction closes on April 28.
