Commanda Mural Print Release!
This “Commanda Mural” print is a co-publishing collaboration with the Ernst Hilger Gallery based on the mural I did in Vienna Austria near the gallery. I’m very excited about this print because the high end process used is very similar to photogravure, which is one of the earliest etching techniques used to reproduce continuous tone photography. In this case, the printing plate used is zinc, opposed to copper. The zinc plate was prepared with photosensitive varnish in acid bath to yield the printing surface for the black areas of the print. The black area of the work was printed by hand on printing press; the color part of the work was printed with lithography. The art was printed by the esteemed Stamperia Carini in San Giovanni Valdarno, Italy. The paper used is 100% cotton rag. Stamperia Carini uses only raw materials of the high quality for its editions.
All inks used in the printing process are the highest degree of resistance to the light available on the market; the paper usually used for the edition is the highest standard of pure cotton (100%). The print looks incredible in person and I’m very happy with how the process translated many elegant, and hard to capture, nuances. -Shepard

Andy Warhol’s great niece to make film on “Uncle Andy!”
Andy Warhol was a big inspiration for me and many others. A lot of documentaries have been made on Warhol and his contribution to the art world, but none have provided the rare insight into his life that only family could offer. Fortunately, Warhol’s great niece, Abby Warhola, has launched a kickstarter campaign to do just that. Check out the trailer and if you’re a fan help support HERE! – Shepard

Ravi Zupa
Ravi Zupa is one of my favorite artists and had his first Los Angeles showing at my gallery, Subliminal Projects, featuring his mind-blowing paintings. Ravi’s command of a broad range of techniques and aesthetics sets him apart from most artists. His next solo show at Black Book Gallery in Denver, features his firearm sculptures made from reclaimed vintage typewriters and other salvaged materials. Ravi is a true craftsman and like his other works, his pieces need to be viewed in person to appreciate their subtleties and composition. Check out the opening of his show “The Calm”, you won’t regret it! – Shepard

Take Action NOW For Leonard Peltier!
I have worked with a few Native American rights and advocacy groups over the years in an effort to combat, and raise awareness about, the pervasive injustice Native Americans have experienced historically. I have also learned about the miscarriage of justice in the Leonard Peltier case. Peltier, a member of the American Indian Movement, was accused and convicted of killing two FBI agents during a shoot out on the Pine Ridge reservation in 1975 even though no witnesses identified him as the shooter and ballistics were inconclusive. I created this poster for a documentary about Leonard Peltier’s case called WIND CHASES THE SUN with proceeds helping the defense committee for Leonard Peltier. Please watch this new video and help take action for Leonard Peltier who has been in prison for forty years despite calls for clemency from all around the world. Contact President Obama and request clemency for Leonard Peltier, share this video, donate money, help spread the world! Thank you for charing! – Shepard

Help complete the Kurt Vonnegut: Unstuck in Time documentary!
My friend Don Argott partnered with filmmaker Bob Weide, to finish his thirty plus years in the making documentary on Kurt Vonnegut. Don’s former documentaries include “The Art of the Steal” and “Last Days Here” (about the band Pentagram), and are great films. This week the two of them launched a kickstarter campaign to complete the final cut of “Kurt Vonnegut: Unstuck in Time.” If you’re a fan of Vonnegut’s work, please take a moment to contribute, support this campaign, and help yet another enlightening film come to fruition!
