CHECK OUT CLEON PETERSON’S COVER OF PHILLIP DICK’S “THE MAN IN THE HIGH CASTLE”
Just got my copy of Phillip Dick’s “The Man in the High Castle” in the mail today. Penguin Essentials asked me to design the cover and I couldn’t be happier with how this thing turned out. The story is brilliant. The U.S. lost WWII and is now occupied by the Nazis and Japanese. Check it out. – Cleon Peterson

ARTSPROJEKT X OBEY SKATEBOARDS X 15% Sale ends today
I first moved to California in 1996 to work with my friend and art and skateboarding role model Andy Howell. If you don’t know who he is, Andy founded New Deal Skateboards, Underworld Element (now Element), and Sophisto Clothing. Now Andy has started artsprojekt.com and is re-issuing some classic skate art, along with some new boards. We are re-releasing some Obey classics, and have added some new boards into the mix. Enjoy.

VITA E MORTE CLOSES THIS SATURDAY @ SUBLIMINAL PROJECTS
This Saturday, August 23 is the last day to come by our gallery Subliminal Projects in Echo Park to see Vita E Morte by multimedia art collective Cross My Heart Hope To Die (CMHHTD). The band put on an amazing first-ever performance on opening night and the work by CMHHTD challenges ideas of what music and art, delivery and discovery, actually mean. By bouncing between the physical and the online, between wide release and hidden secrets, between artist and band, the group hopes to bring wonder back into art and music. The purpose of the project is to create a cross platform between the sonic experience and the visual experience. How one intercepts each medium (sonic versus visual) will impact their perception of the project as a whole. Be sure to check this show out!

SOLD: HONEST GIL AND CAMPAIGN FINANCE REFORM
I have frequently talked about the many problems created by the current campaign finance structure. Big Money donations distort their influence in politics and corrupt our democracy. This is an issue not many Americans seem interested in, but it affects all Americans by insuring that Lobbyists and special interests are put before the interests of the average person. Genuine democracy should guarantee that politicians create the greatest good for the greatest number of people, but that idea has eroded with the favors owed by politicians to special interests in exchange for their contributions.
Campaign finance reform is essential to restoring democracy. Gil Fulbright’s “campaign” helps to illustrate why current campaign finance has compromised and corrupted quality lawmaking and governing but in a very fun, digestible way that I can only hope will resonate with the greater public. Please help contribute and raise awareness to this extremely pressing issue that we all face.
