PEACE TREE MURAL COMPLETE // LOS ANGELES
The crew and I finished the Peace Tree mural on The Line Hotel yesterday afternoon. I’m very happy with how the mural turned out and how it works with the building’s architecture. The Line has a bunch of cool art in the interior as well as a great D*Face mural on the exterior, so I’m grateful to be situated in a bit of a creative oasis. Thanks to The Line team for the assistance and hospitality, to Jon Furlong for the great photos, and to Nic Bowers, Z Bomit, and Rob Zagula for the help painting!

SUBLIMINAL PROJECTS X Cross My Heart Hope To Die // July 26
I love the intersection of art and music. They are both great alone, but even more powerful when they are creatively intertwined. Our next art show at Subliminal features Cross My Heart Hope To Die, an awesome art and music collective that includes Andrew Kline of hardcore band Strife, DJ Muggs of Cypress Hill, and Sean Bonner, an artist, designer, and Internet activism guru. These guys collaborated on music, art, video, and public installations all with the intention of bringing wonder and excitement back into discovering music and art. I’m a big fan of all of these guys as individuals, but the collaboration between the three takes them into unique territory. Check out more on their art show Vita E Morte here! They will be performing live, so the show will be an audio visual extravaganza not to be missed!

CHECK OUT “THE TIBET SOLUTION”, A VIDEO ABOUT HUMAN RIGHTS AND THE TIBETAN CULTURE
I have donated art to the Art for Tibet fundraiser for the past few years and some of the funds this year helped to create a cool animated video about Tibet called “The Tibet Solution.” It does a really good job of breaking down the issue and explaining in a very simple way how we can fix it. If you care about human rights and protecting the special Tibetan culture, please check the video and site. Please spread the word too!

MONICA CANILAO, BORN FROM RUINS CLOSES THIS SATURDAY @ SUBLIMINAL PROJECTS
Saturday is the last day of the Monica Canilao show at our gallery SUBLIMINAL PROJECTS. She did an amazing installation that was super labor intensive. The intricacies and weight of her installations really don’t translate in photographs, you have to see it person. Check it out!

OBEY UK AT GLASTONBURY MUSIC FESTIVAL
My friend Simon Holmes and his crew from Obey UK www.obeyclothing.co.uk were cool enough to install some art for me at the Shangri-La/Shangri-Hell area of the Glastonbury Music Festival. I was in the company of other awesome artists including Stanley Donwood, who does all the art for Radiohead and Thom Yorke, and is coincidentally part of The Provocateurs show I curated for Chicago – http://www.artalliance.com/! I love the intersection of art and music, so I’m always excited to display my art where great music is happening. I just wish I could have been there myself to catch Arcade Fire, Metallica, Black Keys, De La Soul. Nick Lowe, Jack White, Pixies, etc…!

PLEDGE TO THE SCHOOLHAUS KICKSTARTER PROJECT TODAY!
I’ve known Dan Ibarra of Aesthetic Apparatus for many years and really respect what he does with his shop. Dan has teamed up with fellow Minneapolis-based comic/artist/publisher/musician Zak Sally on the “Schoolhaus” project. Schoolhaus is exactly the type of immersive learning experience that can open up creatives to a whole new world and the A4 program Dan and Zak are trying to fund is something I support and you should too. The Kickstarter campaign has 32 hours to go and any pledge at any amount will help them reach their goal of $8,000. Check it out and put your money against something that will cultivate creativity – https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/2049768676/schoolhaus-a4

CAMILLE ROSE GARCIA AT ART ALLIANCE CHICAGO IN JULY
Camille Rose Garcia grew up in Southern California and took in a steady diet of punk rock and Disneyland. Her art reflects the dichotomy of those surroundings, mixing fairy tale cartoons with dark and creepy twists throughout. If you’re in Chicago for Lollapalooza this July, come see Camille Rose Garcia’s work at Art Alliance: The Provocateurs.
