John Van Hamersveld has been a huge influence on me. He has created some amazingly iconic images like the Endless Summer surf movie poster. His Pinnacle Jimi Hendrix poster is my all-time favorite poster image. Here is a cool interview with him. Check it out!

About:
Inspired by militant black leaders like Malcolm X and Stokely Carmichael, a new, radicalized generation of civil rights activists made up of young college students, Vietnam vets, musicians, and intellectuals emerged in Memphis in 1967. The Invaders espoused Black Power and, when pushed, did not limit themselves to non-violence. Prichard Smith uncovers the history and significance of the often- overlooked group, detailing their surprising behind- the-scenes involvement with Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in the pivotal days leading up to his assassination.

VOTER HOLIDAY
I believe that voting should be encouraged. Participation is fundamental to democracy so voting should be made easy for everyone not just the people who have the luxury of flexible schedules. – Shepard

Keystone blocked by Obama!
OK, that’s the headline and great news, but the truth is that Obama’s concern about Climate Change is largely motivated by the activism of grassroots movements. My Capital Gain print, coming out this week, addresses the fact that the average citizen and the health of the planet are ignored in the face of tremendous spending by fossil fuel companies to win favor from politicians. Check out this great video by 350.org showing what it took to block the Keystone pipeline: click here. Naomi Klein is on the board of 350.org, and they are a great organization. This movement needs everyone’s support, so please do what you can for the future of the planet! Thanks for caring!

REMINDER: LEGACY by Tristan Eaton Opens this Sat Nov. 7!
I have known Tristan Eaton for over a decade. His skills as a designer, illustrator, linguistic agitator, and muralist have always impressed me in their designated contexts, but what impresses me about his newest paintings on walls and canvases is that all of these skills, rather than remaining disparate, merge harmoniously. Like the stylistic fearlessness, astounding detail, and technical mastery of Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody,” each of Tristan’s new murals and canvases is its own dense but beautiful bohemian rhapsody.
