Punk the Capital, Straight from Washington D.C. Documentary
Please support “Punk the Capital, Straight from Washington D.C.” a film by Paul Bishow and James Schneider. This documentary explores how punk took hold in Washington D.C., from 1976 through the hardcore explosion of the early 1980s and these guys are raising money through their Kickstarter campaign. D.C. hardcore was big for me – Minor Threat, Bad Brains, G.I., Scream, and Beefeater.
Paul and James started this project back in 2000 and I hope you can pledge to their campaign to help make this documentary a reality. Any amount helps. Your contribution will help to preserve and share a wide range of archives including film, video, audio, flyers, zines, photos and other ephemera. You can find out more and contribute here

Shepard Fairey Will Curate a Massive Art Show During Lollapalooza
As reported by Complex.com today:
The roster has been announced and you are already planning your outfits and transportation to Lollapalooza this summer, but you may want to rework your schedule after reading this news. Shepard Fairey has announced that he will be curating an art show to coincide with the events of the music festival, and according to the Chicago Tribune, it’s going to be a big one.
Entitled “Art Alliance: The Provocateurs,” the show will feature the work of street artists as well as illustrators and poster artists and will be held inside a 25,000-square-foot building. Futura 2000, Eric Haze, Invader, Mark Mothersbaugh, Gary Panter, Ryan McGinness, Dzine, Winston Smith, Camille Rose Garcia, FAILE and RETNA have all been confirmed for the show with others to be announced in the near future. “A lot of the creatives we bring in and a lot of the audience who comes in, they’re thirsty for more cultural stuff,” says Charlie Walker, co-founder of the C3 company that promotes Lollapalooza and a marketing partner in the Art Alliance show. “They want other things to do while they’re in town, and we’d like to diversify — it’s just a natural fit.”

Today we’re launching a SuperPAC to end all SuperPACs. It’s called the Citizens SuperPAC, and it’s only going to succeed if you support it. The video below will explain the plan, and you can also head over to MayOne.US to learn more.

SHEPARD FAIREY ANNOUNCES “ART ALLIANCE: THE PROVOCATUERS” ART SHOW ALONGSIDE LOLLAPALOOZA 2014
From Complex.com
As reported in the Chicago Tribune, today Shepard Fairey announced “Art Alliance: The Provacatuers” – “a big, thoughtfully curated art show” alongside Lollapalooza in Chicago this summer.
“Art Alliance” — part of a marketing partnership between C3 Presents, the Texas-based promoter of Lollapalooza, and Fairey, whose iconic “Hope” portraits of Barack Obama remain as memorable as his Andre the Giant-stamped “Obey” images — will dominate a sizable portion of the 25,000-square-foot building on North State Street.
It will run from July 31 to Aug. 4, concurrent with the music festival (but a separate ticketed event).

Here’s more from Aaron:
Friends, I have been at a loss for what to do in these days after the Everest tragedy. As a photographer who has worked with the Sherpa community (for an upcoming story at National Geographic), I am devastated. Two of the deceased were men I knew. At the end of the day I decided to give back to the community that gave so much to me, by creating sherpasfund.org with Outside Magazine Senior Editor @graysonwyatt. Some of the best photographers in the world joined us. For this week only, 10 of us who have worked in the region will be donating small, signed prints of our work for sale. 100% of proceeds (after printing and shipping) will go to the Sherpa community – distributed by the Alex Lowe Charitable Foundation (non-profit), which has been working with Sherpa climbers in the Khumbu since 2003. By purchasing a print today, you are helping provide relief to Sherpa families in crisis, as well as long-term support that transcends this single incident. Together, we can help to build a more comprehensive safety net for the high-altitude workers who help so many Westerners realize their dreams of the summit.

Become a Producer for Brave New Films
The Koch Brothers continue to pour millions and millions into the coffers of organizations and politicians who will only help them get richer while most of us struggle to make a living wage. I am happy to announce that because of your feedback and support, we are working to revise and update the entire Koch Brothers Exposed film with brand new footage, interviews and information that will highlight the dangers of the Kochs and their ilk.
We have also received a $50,000 matching donation for our efforts. Every dollar you donate to update this film will be matched 100% by this generous donor. Our goal is to have the film done by the end of May when we will release it online free of charge (yes, FREE!) to make certain that everyone in the U.S. can see the film and fully comprehend the dangers of the Koch Brothers political machine.
We need your help to stop the Koch Brothers from using our government as their “mouthpiece.” Our goal is raise awareness about these billionaires and put a wrench in their greedy plans. You can make the difference today!
Best,
Robert Greenwald
