The Stickerobot Shindig
Our friend from Stickerobot are hosting a fun contest.
“So to celebrate the launch of our new website, we are doing it again. But this time we’re not only giving away random stickers we have laying around, we’re also giving some super rare stickers from some of our favorite artists and loyal, silkscreen-loving customers. If you add proper postage, everyone will get stickers sent back and depending on how creative you get, the envelope you receive back may very well contain some out of print, super collectible “you’re crazy if you peel this” stickers. Others still may be signed from some of our most beloved, creative, loyal silkscreen loving fellow sticker art afficianados. No matter what, you’ll get some sweet stickers from the Sticker Robot archives.”

Obey Harmony Print
I learned to meditate a couple years ago, and I’ve found the practice very beneficial in decreasing my stress levels and improving my mental health. I’d highly recommend trying it out. Proceeds from the HARMONY print will benefit the David Lynch Foundation. -Shepard
The David Lynch Foundation was established by filmmaker David Lynch in 2005 to teach meditation to inner-city youth, veterans and their families with post-traumatic stress, incarcerated adults and teens, and Native Americans on reservations. The Foundation also funds independent research on the benefits of the technique for reducing stress and anxiety and developing resiliency and health. Learn more at davidlynchfoundation.org.

Ashtar Command CD Release
My friend, DJ/musician Chris Holmes, asked me and several other artists, including Stanley Donwood, to add some of their imagery into the album cover, done by Los Angeles based artist Joanna Skumanich, of his band ASHTAR COMMAND’s debut album. The music is great. Check out the art and a more in depth description. Better yet, get the record! Oh, Chris was kind enough to give Obey Records a plug on the record. He and I may be curating some music releases in the future. Stay tuned…

Obey in Copenhagen Part 1
We followed Shepard around on his trip to Copenhagen for his solo show at V1 Gallery in August. The trip is documented in a 4 part series that will be released over the next 4 weeks. The videos include footage of the installations Shepard and the OBEY crew did, the show itself and afterparty as well as the controversy that surrounded the trip with commentary by Shepard.

Where do bohemians come from?
A writer I’m friends with, Elizabeth Currid-Halkett, wrote an insightful piece about the NEA’s funding of initiatives in specific locations to create art related job growth. It is great that Obama wants to stimulate art jobs, but the article points to reasons it may be more complicated than spending some govt. money to create the next SOHO. Check it out
