Superheavy X Shepard Fairey Limited edition poster
I am a big fan of The Eurythmics & The Rolling Stones, so I was excited when I heard that Dave Stewart and Mick Jagger wanted me to work on the art direction for their new band; Super Heavy, which also includes the musical talents of Joss Stone, Damian Marley and A.R. Rahman. The project is an epic line up that blends a lot of music styles and perspectives. Check out the new album and their limited edition poster, signed by Mick Jagger, Dave Stewart and me. – Shepard

Occupy Your City
People young and old are taking the streets to let our government and corporations know that we are a democracy that’s not for sale.
The Occupy Wall Street protest is a full bore international indictment against corporate greed and dysfunctional government.
The time is now. Protests are growing more each day, with some observers estimating the Occupy movement could swell to 250,000 online activists in the coming days.
Watch this video, then add your voice to the protest near you.
Democracy requires the wisdom of crowds.
“Opposing Instincts” at The Outsiders in London
Sage Vaughn: a contemporary painter honed in street art noted for his colourful portrayals of wildlife. Michael Muller: a Hollywood photographer with top-flight production values and a personal penchant for underwater photography, especially of sharks. They surf together, and now they make art together. It’s a symbiotic relationship with absolutely spectacular results.
Sage paints in his signature style over Muller’s magnificent photos, creating a whole that’s greater even than the sum of these particular parts.

Defend Rights of Women and Girls
September 28th marks the day for the Decriminalization of Abortion in Latin America and the Caribbean.
“Human Rights and equality are very important pillars of my philosophy. I am honored to do what I can to support Amnesty in their continuous efforts. Everyone should live free from fear.” – Shepard Fairey
A message from the Amnesty International – Multiple demonstrations organized by the woman’s movement and supported by Amnesty International are taking place in major cities across Latin America. We are calling for a repeal of the abortion ban and an end to sexual violence among women and girls. We feel that this symbol of the butterfly shows that for every one of us, there are thousands of people around the world that are with us in our struggle. To create this solidarity in the world between so many countries and people, is a great work of Amnesty and we hope it continues and gets stronger. Please visit us at www.Amnesty.org to learn more!

All Tomorrow’s Parties
All Tomorrow’s Parties is a great independent music festival that does events around the world. I attended one in LA a few years ago to catch great shows by Iggy and the Stooges and Mission of Burma. ATP has a great concept of asking people or bands to curate the festival. They have asked people like Jim Jarmusch, Matt Groening, Thurston Moore, The Melvins, and for this year’s festival, Portishead. I love Portishead, so I was happy to be asked to create the poster this year. The festival is happening in an amazing building on the boardwalk in Asbury Park NJ, so I incorporated the building into the design of the poster. I’ll be doing murals, an art show, and DJ’ing as part of the ATP festival, so I’m getting to indulge all my passions in a concentrated way this week. Oh, Public Enemy is performing their classic sonic thunderstorm of an album “Fear of a Black Planet”… shake your rump and pump your fist!!!! If you don’t know what I’m talking about, improve your life immediately and get that record. Or, get to Asbury Park and check it out.

Art Is Not A Crime…End the Mural Moratorium
The reason I hired five jet planes to sky write over City Hall and downtown Los Angeles is to bring awareness to how ridiculous a moratorium on public art is. -SABER
