The Music of David Lynch | Part 2

I’m a big fan of David Lynch’s movies, art, and music and I was excited to be asked to create the image for “The Music of David Lynch” benefiting the David Lynch Foundation, which took place on April 1.  The performances from that night were really special and the organization is one that I truly believe in.  Speaking of performances, Duran Duran put on a great show that night.  I’m honored by their kind words about the print I created of David.  Starting today a limited number of prints left from the event are on sale.  All proceeds benefit the non-profit foundation to bring Transcendental Meditation to at-risk populations suffering with PTSD.  Get the print and support a great cause, once they’re gone, they’re gone.

Be it the synthesized echo of the Twin Peaks theme song, the Angelo Badalamenti score to Blue Velvet or Mulholland Drive’s “Llorando,” David Lynch deploys music in his work to stirring effect, creating layers of meanings in a sequence of melancholic minor chords or startled key changes. On April 1, the David Lynch Foundation celebrated its 10th Anniversary with The Music of David Lynch, an exploration of the director’s use of immersive and ambient sound in his films, Twin Peaks and original catalog. All proceeds went to the non-profit Foundation to bring Transcendental Meditation to at-risk populations suffering with PTSD.
